About

A Family Dentist
That Feels Like Family

If you read our team bios, you will see that a lot of us came into the dental field by chance. All of us stay, not just because we love it, but because we are continuously inspired by our patients and the self-growth dentistry provides. We are committed to excellency at this office.

It can be easy to get complacent in a comfort zone and to keep practicing the same way year after year. This, however is not who we are. We provide you and your family with the highest standard of care through our shared love of continuous learning. Our understanding the role that the mouth, teeth and airway play in affecting the rest of the body drives our passion to fully support your health goals.

Success does not happen alone and we are very thankful and proud of the partnerships we form both with our patients, our team, as well as leading integrative healthcare providers in the area.

Meet Our Team

Dr. David Jacobson

Owner/Dentist

From a young age I was drawn to healthcare, but, ultimately, felt connected to dentistry because I found it fulfilling, hands on work that has both an artistic and pragmatic side to it not typical in other healthcare environments. I attended UVM for undergraduate and continued on to NYU College of Dentistry. Following dental school, I completed a one year general practice residency at North Shore University Hospital in New York.

“I hate the dentist,” is possibly the most common phrase uttered about my profession. My approach to how I practice dentistry is, first and foremost, centered around empathy. I understand that, for many, coming to see me can often be a source of stress or fear, so I strive to alleviate any of your anxiousness around your care however possible. My team and I aim to make your experience with us positive, comfortable, clean, and safe.

I have a strong passion for continuing education and, as a result, my practice has evolved; we hold ourselves to a high standard of care and a more comprehensive approach to your health. This means that, as a highly-trained team, we are committed to helping you identify and realize your wellness goals through providing education, direct care, and, when necessary, partnering with other providers to best serve you. We believe in getting to the source of any health issues when possible, not just providing "band-aid" solutions.

My commitment to this community and surrounding towns is reflected not only through support for local events, organizations, and activities, but also through my work to help build a vibrant downtown right here in Cape Elizabeth. I feel fortunate to call this community home with my wife, Phebe, and my three sons, Gabe, Liam, and Theo.

Karen

Practice Manager

I started in the dental field in 2018 and could never have imagined that I would love it at much as I do. As the practice manager, I get to work closely with our patients and this team to help create a practice that is always evolving and keeping up with the latest research and education. Since starting, I have gone on to earn my fellowship through the American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM), as well as been on the board for our local AADOM Chapter as VP.

The ability to use my bachelor's degree in Health and Wellness to help Two Lights Dental become a more whole-body and integrative practice is very fulling professionally. It also makes me so happy for you as a patient, knowing that we truly care for you and your family on a much deeper level than just focusing on concerns with your teeth. You are getting the very highest level of care at our practice.

Ask me about: My pets, they are my favorite subject!

Mary

Front Office Associate

I have had the pleasure of watching this practice grow in many ways as I have been with Two Lights Dental from the very start. I have worked in the dental field for over 20 years and have had the privilege of forming many special relationships with our patients. My favorite thing has been watching patients who started coming to us as children, now grown and bringing their own families to us. This is what makes being a part of this practice so meaningful to me.

At Two Lights Dental, everyone on this team cares for our patients on an individual level, and as we continue to grow, I’m excited for our patients as we transition from going beyond just treating teeth to treating the body as a whole.

On a more personal note, I’m an avid walker and many of you will see me walking about town, please send a wave my way!!!

Stephanie

Dental Hygienist / clinical coordinator

I am a University of New England graduate (2010) and have had the pleasure of being part of the Two Lights Dental family since 2014.

My love of dentistry developed early on in life. Growing up, going to my dental appointments was always a fun adventure, creating great memories I still have to this day. After deciding to go to dental hygiene school, I soon realized that the majority of patients did not share my love and excitement of going to the dentist. From that moment on I decided to try and make every patient’s appointment a positive experience.

Most of my patients will notice early on in their appointment that I love my job! The way our office looks at whole body health has really opened up ways to care for our patients better than I would have ever imagined. Dentistry is progressing and I am excited to be part of it!

When I’m not here at Two Lights Dental, I can be found walking the beach with my Yorkie Roxie, travelling (anywhere I can go), and working as a Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor at the University of New England.

To the patients I have had the honor of working with, thank you for being a part of our family and to those that I have yet to meet, I look forward to working with you!

Jackie

Dental Hygienist

I have been practicing as a hygienist since 2008 and joined the Two Lights Dental team in 2017. Fun fact: When I was in college, someone told me I would make a great dental hygienist, so I switched my major in from biology to dental hygiene, and I'm so glad that I did!

While the act of cleaning teeth is fun for me, I am passionate about the science behind disease. I am also committed to making sure every dental appointment is centered around your needs. I can always find the humor in any situation and strive to make dental hygiene visits fun, yet informative. Judging is not my style; I'm here to help you achieve your optimal health!

When I'm not at Two Lights Dental, I work as a clinical instructor at my alma mater, the University of New England, teaching the next wave of dental hygienists. I graduate with a master's degree in Psychology in the summer of 2022. I am an avid golfer and belong to the Purpoodock Club here in Cape Elizabeth.

Chelsea

Dental Hygienist

I began my dental career at age 15, where I was trained as a dental assistant. I graduated college with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New England, and immediately went on to graduate school to obtain my Master’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport, CT. I have had extensive continuing education over the years. Some of my favorites include; cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign/clear aligner therapy, the use of lasers in dental hygiene and dental sleep medicine. I am also continually training with the newest technology as a clinical dental hygiene professor at the University of New England.

As a hygienist at Two Lights, I love to help my patients make the connections between their total body wellness and oral health. Not only am I invested in your dental health, but am eager to hear your goals and explore the possibilities of achieving your dream smile! Outside of the office, you will find me enjoying all of the outdoor activities Maine has to offer. I am very active, and a lover competitive sports. I love spending time with friends and family,

Michelle

Dental Hygienist

As a young child being raised in Rhode Island, I knew I wanted to be a Nurse when I grew up. Comforting and healing people is what I'm good at, so why not make a career out of it?

While attending a Vocational High School, I quickly figured out that Nursing was not for me, but I discovered Dental Assisting and was fascinated from the very beginning. I practiced as a Dental Assistant in Massachusetts from 2016–2021 and during that time, I realized I wanted more in-depth and interpersonal experience with patients, so pursuing a Dental Hygiene degree seemed like the next natural step. While working as a Dental assistant, I attended Bristol Community College in Fall River, MA (2017–2021) and graduated with my Associates degree in Health and Life Science. I was accepted into UNE’s Dental Hygiene program for the Fall semester of 2021, where I completed two years of Dental Hygiene courses as well as clinicals and Graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in May of 2023.

To me, being a Dental Hygienist means continuing my education, staying up-to-date with all the new gadgets and advancements in this ever-evolving industry, educating and advocating for patients, catering a treatment plan for success, and cultivating a stress-free environment.

Codi

Dental Assistant

I fell into dentistry at the age of 18 with little knowledge of how the dental world worked other than the usual ‘brush and floss twice a day.’ I had always wanted to work in healthcare but hadn’t quite figured out where my fit was until I became a dental assistant. My passion for the dental field has only grown larger through my experience over these past few years. I love how dentistry is always evolving!

I am a fully certified dental assistant (CDA) and am looking forward to becoming an expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA) within the office. I take pride in Dr. Jacobson's work and my role in keeping our patients healthy and happy. Also, I could not ask to work with a better team!

Ask me about: My cats and my love of horror movies!

Barb

Dental Assistant

I received a bachelor's degree from USM in 2015 but didn't join the dental community until my completion of a dental assistant program in 2021. I have always loved working with people as well as working with my hands. This field allows me to do both while helping patients achieve their oral health goals. I believe everyone deserves to feel confident with their smile and I want to help people with the process. I am here to listen to the patient and empower them with knowledge and support.

When I am not at the office, you can find me hiking in the mountains as I work on completing the NH48. Off the slopes I am usually with my husband and two rescue pups enjoying the great outdoors of Maine or working in the studio on my pottery. Traveling and experiencing new foods and cultures is also one of my favorite activities, even if it's just a roadtrip away.

Ask me about: Where I’m from. (hint: Na zdraví!)

Jordyn

Front Office Associate

As I pursue my degree in Business Administration, I’ve begun working at Two Lights Dental to expand my horizon. I've always been passionate about building relationships and connecting with others. One thing I love about this practice is how we get to know each patient as a person, not just a set of teeth!

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring creativity and design, and I have recently begun my own side business specializing in event design. I graduated from Thornton Academy in 2022 where I participated in cheerleading as the captain of my team. Teamwork plays a huge role in making a team- well- work! I have quickly found my way into the team here at Two Lights and look forward to what’s to come!
