About
A Family Dentist
That Feels Like Family
If you read our team bios, you will see that a lot of us came into the dental field by chance. All of us stay, not just because we love it, but because we are continuously inspired by our patients and the self-growth dentistry provides. We are committed to excellency at this office.
It can be easy to get complacent in a comfort zone and to keep practicing the same way year after year. This, however is not who we are. We provide you and your family with the highest standard of care through our shared love of continuous learning. Our understanding the role that the mouth, teeth and airway play in affecting the rest of the body drives our passion to fully support your health goals.
Success does not happen alone and we are very thankful and proud of the partnerships we form both with our patients, our team, as well as leading integrative healthcare providers in the area.
Meet Our Team
Dr. David Jacobson
Owner/Dentist
From a young age I was drawn to healthcare, but, ultimately, felt connected to dentistry because I found it fulfilling, hands on work that has both an artistic and pragmatic side to it not typical in other healthcare environments. I attended UVM for undergraduate and continued on to NYU College of Dentistry. Following dental school, I completed a one year general practice residency at North Shore University Hospital in New York.
“I hate the dentist,” is possibly the most common phrase uttered about my profession. My approach to how I practice dentistry is, first and foremost, centered around empathy. I understand that, for many, coming to see me can often be a source of stress or fear, so I strive to alleviate any of your anxiousness around your care however possible. My team and I aim to make your experience with us positive, comfortable, clean, and safe.
I have a strong passion for continuing education and, as a result, my practice has evolved; we hold ourselves to a high standard of care and a more comprehensive approach to your health. This means that, as a highly-trained team, we are committed to helping you identify and realize your wellness goals through providing education, direct care, and, when necessary, partnering with other providers to best serve you. We believe in getting to the source of any health issues when possible, not just providing "band-aid" solutions.
My commitment to this community and surrounding towns is reflected not only through support for local events, organizations, and activities, but also through my work to help build a vibrant downtown right here in Cape Elizabeth. I feel fortunate to call this community home with my wife, Phebe, and my three sons, Gabe, Liam, and Theo.

Dr. Anastasia Ascher, D.M.D.
Associate Dentist
I grew up in Cape Elizabeth and was once a patient at Two Lights Dental—an experience that helped spark my passion for dentistry. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and went on to complete my dental education at the University of New England. Now, as an associate dentist at the very practice where my journey began, I am proud to give back to the community that shaped me.
With my unique perspective of having been both a patient and now a provider at Two Lights Dental, I am deeply committed to creating a welcoming, stress-free environment for the entire family. I understand how it feels to be in the chair—and I aim to bring that empathy to every appointment.
Outside the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our two young daughters, and a small flock of backyard chickens. Whether exploring the coast or playing in the yard, she loves being part of the Cape Elizabeth community both professionally and personally.
Karen
Practice Manager
I started in the dental field in 2018 and could never have imagined that I would love it at much as I do. As the practice manager, I get to work closely with our patients and this team to help create a practice that is always evolving and keeping up with the latest research and education. Since starting, I have gone on to earn my fellowship through the American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM). I am also the President of the Maine Dental Leadership Coalition (MDLC).
The ability to use my bachelor's degree in Health and Wellness to help Two Lights Dental become a more whole-body and integrative practice is very fulling professionally. It also makes me so happy for you as a patient, knowing that we truly care for you and your family on a much deeper level than just focusing on concerns with your teeth. You are getting the very highest level of care at our practice.

Mary
Front Office Associate
I have had the pleasure of watching this practice grow in many ways as I have been with Two Lights Dental from the very start. I have worked in the dental field for over 20 years and have had the privilege of forming many special relationships with our patients. My favorite thing has been watching patients who started coming to us as children, now grown and bringing their own families to us. This is what makes being a part of this practice so meaningful to me.
At Two Lights Dental, everyone on this team cares for our patients on an individual level, and as we continue to grow, I’m excited for our patients as we transition from going beyond just treating teeth to treating the body as a whole.
On a more personal note, I’m an avid walker and many of you will see me walking about town, please send a wave my way!!!
Stephanie
Dental Hygienist / clinical coordinator
I am a graduate of the University of New England and have proudly been part of the Two Lights Dental family since 2014. After earning my Master’s in Healthcare Administration, I expanded my role within the practice to serve as both a Dental Hygienist and Clinical Coordinator.
My love of dentistry developed early on in life. Growing up, going to my dental appointments was always a fun adventure, creating great memories I still have to this day. After deciding to go to dental hygiene school, I soon realized that the majority of patients did not share my love and excitement of going to the dentist. From that moment on I decided to try and make every patient’s appointment a positive experience.
Most of my patients will notice early on in their appointment that I love my job! The way our office looks at whole body health has really opened up ways to care for our patients better than I could have ever imagined. Dentistry is progressing and I am excited to be part of it!
When I’m not here at Two Lights Dental, I can be found hanging out on the beach, travelling (anywhere I can go), and working as a Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor at the University of New England.
To the patients I have had the honor of working with, thank you for being a part of our family and to those that I have yet to meet, I look forward to working with you!

Jackie
LEAD Dental Hygienist
I have been practicing as a hygienist since 2008 and joined the Two Lights Dental team in 2017. Fun fact: When I was in college, someone told me I would make a great dental hygienist, so I switched my major in from biology to dental hygiene, and I'm so glad that I did!
While the act of cleaning teeth is fun for me, I am passionate about the science behind disease. I am also committed to making sure every dental appointment is centered around your needs. I can always find the humor in any situation and strive to make dental hygiene visits fun, yet informative. Judging is not my style; I'm here to help you achieve your optimal health! I consider a lot of patients my friends, and always look forward to catching up with you at your visits.
When I'm not at Two Lights Dental, I work as a clinical instructor at my alma mater, the University of New England, teaching the next wave of dental hygienists. I completed a master's degree in psychology in 2022. I love to golf, and could play all day, every day, if possible!

Gisele
Dental Hygienist
I am a Texas A&M and UNE grad and started at Two Lights Dental May of 2025. I moved to Maine from Texas in 2020, and I am very happy to be here!
My mother has played a pivotal role in my interest in dentistry. In her teenage years, my mom had an accident playing softball, and she spent countless hours in a dental chair undergoing restorative work. She has dental anxiety because of this experience, but she has always been determined to keep her teeth. Despite her discomfort, she taught my sister and I the importance of oral health and made visits to my local dental office exciting. She inspires me to help all of my patients feel supported and as comfortable as possible. I approach my patients with curiosity and empathy. I believe that educating patients about their oral hygiene with science-based evidence enables them to make informed decisions about their care. Together, as a team, every member of Two Lights Dental can help you keep smiling.

Codi
Dental Assistant, EFDA
I first stepped into the dental world at 18 with little more than the basics — “brush and floss twice a day” — and a passion for healthcare. It didn’t take long for me to find my place in dentistry as a dental assistant, and that passion has only continued to grow ever since. I love how this field constantly evolves, offering new ways to learn, grow, and better serve patients.
Now a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and proud Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), I take great pride in supporting Dr. Jacobson’s work and helping our patients maintain healthy, confident smiles. I’m also incredibly grateful to be part of such a skilled and supportive team.
When I’m not in the office, you can usually find me outdoors — whether it’s camping, soaking up the sun at the lake, or just enjoying time in nature with friends and family. There’s nothing better than disconnecting, relaxing, and making memories surrounded by fresh air and good company.

Dory
Dental Assistant
My passion for dentistry comes from my dedication to patient care, my enjoyment of continuous learning, and my background in healthcare. Before joining Two Lights Dental, I worked as an ophthalmology assistant, where I gained valuable experience in a specialized medical field and developed a strong appreciation for learning and growth in healthcare. That experience inspired me to continue my path in medical assisting and ultimately led me to dentistry, a field I enjoy for its constant opportunities to learn and evolve.
I take pride in helping patients feel comfortable and supported, especially during visits that may feel stressful or unfamiliar. I approach each day with a mindset of learning, whether it’s expanding my clinical skills or finding better ways to support and educate patients, while maintaining a calm, friendly presence to help them feel at ease throughout their care.
My hope is that every patient leaves feeling supported, confident, and cared for.

Lily
Dental Assistant
I'm the person helping the dentist during your visit, setting everything up, taking X-rays, passing instruments, and making sure you're comfortable the whole time. If you have a question anytime during your appointment, I’m the one right there with you
I like to treat people the way I'd like to be treated. A lot of people don't love going to the dentist, so I focus on keeping things calm, explaining what's going on, and making sure they feel supported the whole time.
I hope they leave feeling good about their visit and not dreading the next one. If I can help someone feel less stressed than they expected and be more confident about the process of the appointment, that's a win for me.

Morgan
Dental Assistant
I recently made the switch from working as a CNA to changing my career and working as a assistant in the dental field and I couldn't be happier I made that choice both with my career and my place of work!
I am working towards earning my CDA and furthering my love and knowledge of the dental world. My approach to my job is to try my best to put patients at ease when they come into our office.

Julia
Front Office Coordinator
As a front office associate, my goal is for every patient to feel welcomed and accepted when walking through our door. I strive to make the transition from the clinical team to the front office as smooth as possible and ensure that every patient leaves the office feeling confident and informed about their care and any further treatment.
Outside of the office, I am working towards finishing my business administration degree, and throughout my program, I have learned many valuable skills to help better assist patients in all areas. I enjoy spending time outside, reading, baking, gardening, and spending time with friends, family, and my cat named Goose.
